2026 Alabama State Games

The Alabama State Games was established in 1982 at the request of the United States Olympic Committee to give athletes exposure to Olympic-style sports. What started with 600 athletes competing in 4 sports has grown into the largest annual multi-sport event in Alabama with 5,000 athletes competing in 20+ sports. The 43rd Alabama State Games Opening Ceremony takes place Friday, June 12, 2026 at Legacy Arena in Birmingham. It starts at 7:00 PM, is free to the public, and will be special evening recognizing Alabama athletes, honoring Alabama heroes, and celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
