This lesson builds understanding of the relationships between founding documents by comparing and contrasting the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. 

The purpose of this lesson plan is to
identify why the signers of the Declaration of Independence supported independence.

This lesson will help you cover standards ALCOS.SS.2010.3.10 and ALCOS.2010.5.8.

Students will learn about the purpose and message of the Declaration of Independence, question and discover if women had rights in early America and analyze and compare the Declaration of Sentiments and its message and purpose.
