Voices of the Past – Revolutionary Stories at Greenwood Cemetery
April 25 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
OLLI at UA, in partnership with the Chief Tuscaloosa Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, invites you to a one‑of‑a‑kind historical experience!
Join us from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 25.
Step back in time as history comes alive among the gravestones of Greenwood Cemetery, established in 1819 and Tuscaloosa’s oldest burial ground. During this immersive afternoon, 12 featured individuals portrayed in period attire will be stationed throughout the cemetery, each representing a real person from the past and sharing the story of their life, legacy, and role in history.
These voices from the past span pivotal moments and movements, including the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, women’s history, African American history, and more— each leaving a revolutionary impact on our nation.
This event is open to all who enjoy history, storytelling, and meaningful outdoor experiences. Guests are welcome to stroll the grounds at their own pace while encountering powerful stories of courage, struggle, and contribution along the way. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
